Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 317: 1722 Birth Record of John Phillips in Charlestown, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1722 birth record of John Phillips (1722-before 1800) in Charlestown, Massachusetts:

The snippet of the John Phillips birth record is:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"John, son of Ebenezer & Mary Phillips (born)
Septem^r 11^th                                              1722"

The source citation for this record is:

Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, digital images, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com : accessed 18 March 2013), Charlestown, "Archives Births Marriages Deaths, 1629-1800," page 191 (penned), image 155 of 385, John Phillips birth entry, 1722.

This is clearly a Derivative Source since it is all in one hand, and certainly was copied from an earlier town records book.  The information is probably Primary Information since the original data was written in a town record book at the time of the birth, and is certainly Direct Evidence since it provides the name of the child, the birth date and the parents names.

John Phillips (1722-before 1800) is my 5th great-grandfather.  Her married Hannah Brown (1725-????) in 1749, and they were the parents of Martha Phillips (1757-after 1820), who married Isaac Buck (1757-1846), my 4th great-grandparents.
