The Canada 150 Challenge - My Ancestors Living in Canada in 1867

Today is the 150th anniversary of the "birth" of Canada - the British North American Act that united the four eastern provinces - Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Patricia Greber, in her blog post, Canada's 150th Genealogy Challenge, suggested listing your ancestors who resided in Canada on 1 July 1867, the date they settled there, and where they were residing in 1867.

Here are mine:

*   3rd great-grandfather Abraham Kemp (1795-1881), born in Fredericksburgh, Prince Edward County, Ontario, resided in Windham, Norfolk County, Ontario in 1867.  Parents arrived in Canada in around 1786.

*   2nd great-grandfather James Abraham Kemp (1831-1902), born in Hillier, Prince Edward County, Ontario, resided in Windham, Norfolk County, Ontario in 1867.  Ancestors arrived in Canada in around 1786.

*  2nd great-grandmother  Mary Jane (Sovereen) Kemp (1840-1874), born in Windham, Norfolk county, Ontario, resided in Winfham, Norfolk County, Ontario in 1867.  Ancestors arrived in Canada in around 1786.

*  3rd great-grandfather Alexander Sovereen (1814-1907), born in Middleton, Norfolk County, Ontario, resided in Windham, Norfolk county, Ontario in 1867.  Ancestors came to Canada in about 1795.
