Best of the Genea-Blogs - 13 to 19 August 2017

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Life in Poland and the Decision to Leave (Part 1); The Journey to America (Part 2); Life in America (Part 3) by Donna Pointkouski on the What's Past is Prologue blog.  Fascinating!

*  Moscow! by Israel Pickholtz on the All My Foreparents blog.  Genea-smacked!

*  Finding Your Heritage in Unexpected Places by Carolyn Tolman on the Legacy Tree Genealogists blog.

*  Cooking Up Content: 50 Writing Ideas to Feed Your Genealogy Blog by Lynn Palermo on The Armchair Genealogist blog.  Great list!

*  Researching Abroad, Day One; Day Two by Lilian Magill on the Lilian's Tree blog.

*  Coming in the Side Door for Amazing Ancestor Finds by Cindy Freed on The In-Depth Genealogist blog.

*  "If My Ancestry Subscription Expires, What Happens to My Tree?” by Lisa Louise Cooke on Lisa Louise Cooke's Genealogy Gems blog.  Wisdom here.

*  Researching Abroad Roadshow Report - Parramatta by Chris Paton on The GENES Blog.  Fun!

*  CAGR or Computer Aided Genealogical Research by James Tanner on the Genealogy's Star blog.  Yep.

*  Changing the Rules by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist blog.  They do...

*  What You Might Miss in Genealogy Publications by Amy Johnson Crow on the Amy Johnson Crow blog.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1600 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

The Linda Stufflebean has become inaccessible for breaking some rule.
