Best of the Genea-Blogs - 20 to 26 August 2017

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Which DNA Test Should I Buy? A Comprehensive DNA Buying Guide by History Chick on the Genealogical Musings blog.

*  Find Your Family Online With Digital Books by Elizabeth O'Neal on the Legacy News blog.

*  Special Episode: The End of FamilySearch Microfilm Lending Program by Lisa Louise Cooke on the Lisa Louise Cooke's Genealogy Gems Podcast blog.

*  Genealogy 101: School Yearbooks by Gena Philibert-Ortega on the GenealogyBank Blog.

*  5 Alternative Sources for Death Information by Michael Leclerc on the Genealogy Professor blog.

*  Some Ideas on Where to Donate My Genealogy by Christine Manczuk on the Ancestry Island blog.
