It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.
The treasure today is the 1677 marriage record of Thomas Chase and Rebecca Follansbee in the Newbury, Massachusetts Town Records:
The marriage record is on the right-hand page of the image above, over halfway down the page:
:
The transcription of the marriage record is:
"Thomas Chase & Rebecca Follansbee were marryed Nov 22^d 1677"
The source citation for this record is:
Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, indexed database and digital image, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com), "Newbury Births, Marriages, Deaths," no page number (image 622 of 2384), Thomas Chase and Rebecca Follansbee marriage entry.
This record is in a transcription of an earlier Newbury town record book, and therefore is a Derivative Source with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the marriage.
Thomas Chase was born 25 July 1654 in Newbury, Massachusetts, the son of Aquila Chase and Ann Wheeler and died before 25 February 1734 in Newbury, Massachusetts. He married Rebecca Follansbee on 22 November 1677 in Newbury. Rebecca was born in about 1658, probably in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (--?--) Follansbee; she died 27 December 1711 in Newbury.
Thomas and Rebecca (Follansbee) Chase are my 7th great-grandparents. I am descended from their daughter Mary Chase (1695-1733), who married John Horton (1696-1796) in 1719, and resided in Rehoboth, Massachusetts and Foster, Rhode Island.
