Here are some of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:
1) Presented my "Attending a Genealogy Conference" presentation the German Interest Group of the San Diego Genealogical Siociety on Wednesday at the FamilySearch Library. There were about 30 in attendance. After an overview of how and why to attend, and a list of example national, regional, specialty, cruise and institutes, a detailed review of the SCGS Genealogy Jamboree and RootsTech was presented with many photographs.
2) Found and transcribed the two deeds of 2nd great-grandfather David Auble in Sussex County, New Jersey. I used one of them for today's Amanuensis Monday post.
3) There was no Mondays With Myrt today due to Pat's surgery last week, so I speed-watched about ten DNA presentations on FamilyTreeWebinars aznd YouTube. They gave me many ideas for my own DNA and Genetic Genealogy presentation for the CVGS Family History Day.
4) Added about 30 more charts to the presentation for my project researching the ancestry of a local personality, and will present what I find at the CVGS Family History Day in September with him and his family in attendance. The presentation is about 95% done now, but will need to be pared down. I worked a bit on this RootsMagic family tree during the week, and the tree has grown to 556 persons with 1,617 citations. I TreeShared once and resolved all of the Record Hints again.
5) There were several sessions working in RootsMagic to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and other database families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 25,210 of my persons with FSFT. I now have 50,582 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 95,473 source citations. I TreeShared once during the last week, but didn't resolve any Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 71,805 waiting to be resolved, but I work on them occasionally.
6) Have 301 Shared Ancestors on my AncestryDNA list (I had 299 last week), 961 4th cousins or closer (I had 954 last week), and 872 pages (over 43,600 matches with at least 6 cM) (was 866 pages last week) of matches. I have 24 DNA Circles (was 23 last week). I have 16 matches that are third cousins or closer, and 104 matches with 34 cM (0.5%) or more (was 102 last week). My highest match has 779 cM (11.5%), and is one of my first cousins. My ethnicity estimate has not been modified yet.
7) Have 4,355 DNA Matches on MyHeritage (up from 4,321 last week) with at least 8 cM (0.12%), with 25 matches with more than 34 cM (0.5%) or more (was 24 last week). I have three close relatives, including a first cousin once removed, and two first cousins twice removed. The highest DNA match is 512 cM (7.1%).
8) Have 985 DNA Relatives on 23andMe (I had 989 last week) who share at least 0.10% (7 cM) with me. The two closest relatives are third cousins. Of these, only 3 share 1.0% or more, and 47 share 0.50% or more (was 48 last week), with the highest match being 1.54%. My highest match is an adoptee. I struggle to find out anything about most of these testers.
9) Have 2,743 autosomal DNA Matches on FamilyTreeDNA (up from 2,741 last week) who share 0.25% (18 cM) or more, with the highest match being 96 cM (1.42%). I have 12 who share at least 1.0% (68 cM) with me, and 1,484 who share at least 0.50% (34 cM) or more (was 1,482 last week) with me.
10) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which three were press releases. The most popular post last week was "Has Ancestry.com Indexed the Ancestry Member Trees Yet?" with over 698 views.
