Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:
1) Moderated the SDGS RootsMagic User Group at the FamilySearch Library on Saturday. I demonstrated: downloading a record image (I used a census record), adding an event and source for it, adding to the Media and tagging persons and events; sourcing a death certificate using the local certificate source template, noting additional events and relationships and using the same source; creating a GEDCOM file for a specific person, and creating a new tree for that person; drag-and-dropping persons to a new tree to create a tree for a specific person; TreeSharing with Ancestry; and more.
2) Experimented with the Exploring Family Tree visualization program at https://learnforeverlearn.com/ancestors/ using GEDCOM files, I was able to show my entire known ancestry on one chart (40 generations), and descendants of specific ancestors (up to 6th great-grandparents).
3) Transcribed the 1839 deed of 3rd great-grandfather Zachariah Hildreth selling land in Townsend, Mass. to his son, Aaron Hildreth for Amanuensis Monday.
4) Wrote and posted a biography of 6th great-grandfather #472 Richard Cutter (1682-1756) of Cambridge, Mass. and Woodbridge, New Jersey for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.
5) Worked twice on my July presentation on Top 10 Genealogy Search Tips. Added about 25 slides this week. About 60% done now. It's slow going.\
6) Watched two Family Tree Webinars - Google Drive: An Office in the Cloud by DearMYRTLE and Cousin Russ; and Valid and Unsound Assumptions: What Was She Thinking" by Jeanna Larzelere Bloom.
7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and other ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 31,070 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.
8) I continue to use Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 53,676 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 105,104 source citations. I TreeShared once this week updating 104 profiles, and I resolved about 834 Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 110,283 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.
9) Wrote 19 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which four were press releases. The most popular post last week was Betty With Her Pets in About 1922 -- Post 566 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday with over 383 views.
