4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

Martha Morrison was likely born about 1735 in Somerset County, New Jersey, the daughter of John and Margrete (--?--) Morrison, and one of nine children[1-2].

Martha's father wrote his will in 1751, and he died in 1753.  His will, proved 22 March 1753[2], named his nine children, including daughter Martha, who was under age when the will was written, but no specific bequests were listed in the will abstract.

Martha likely married, in about 1754, probably in Somerset County, New Jersey, to John Kinnan, the son of Thomas and Eleanor (--?--) Kinnan of Basking Ridge, New Jersey[1].

After their marriage, they moved to Morris County, New Jersey, and eventually to Sussex County during the Revolutionary War[1].

John and Martha (Morrison) Kinnan had at least four children[1]:

1. Probably John Kinnan. He was born about 1755 in Morris County, New Jersey. He likely married Catherine Victorse Putman a daughter of Margaret Wies and Victor Potman/Putman.
2. Sarah Mary Kinnan. Sarah was born about 1761 perhaps in Morris County, New Jersey. She married Peter Victorse Potman/Putman who was born about 1760 likely in Sussex County, New Jersey, the son of Margaret Wies and Victor Potman.
3. Eleanor Kinnan/Cannan. She was born about 1765 in New Jersey and married John Chamberlain. John  was born about 1759, the son of John Chamberlain.
4. Martha Kinnan/Cannan. Martha was born about 1773 in New Jersey and died in Lackawanna, Pennsylvania. She married Eleazer Atherton who was born about 1765 in New York.

John Kinnan left an intestate estate record in 1784 in Wantage, Sussex County[1].  Widow Martha "Cannan" was named administrator of the estate.  The inventory of John Kinnan's estate was ordered on 4 September 1784, taken on 6 November 1784, and submitted to the court on 17 January 1785 by Cornelius Atherton (the father-in-law of Martha Kinnan, John’s daughter).

John Kinnan died before 4 September 1784, probably in Wantage, Sussex County, New Jersey.  Martha probably survived him since she served as his administrator, but her death date and death location are not known.  There are no burial records for John or Martha (Morrison) Kinnan.
