Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:
3) Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group on Wednesday, with 12 in attendance. I discussed genetic genealogy news for the last two months, reviewed how I analyze my DNA matches and use ThruLines, and the attendees shared their activities.
2) Moderated the San Diego Genealogical Society RootsMagic User Group on Saturday at the San Diego FHC, with 8 in attendance. We discussed making a website using RootsMagic, using TreeShare to keep the Ancestry tree updated and web hints, and several other topics.
3) Watched one Family Tree Webinar video - New Tools and Ideas in Research, by D. Joshua Taylor.
4) Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #525 Elizabeth (Wheeler) Fletcher (1664-1744) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.
5) Transcribed a 1729 deed of 7th great-grandfather Simon Gates selling land in Stow, Massachusetts to Francis Eveleth for Amanuensis Monday.
6) Added Notes to about 10 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors, and added two ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database. Reviewed new DNA matches on MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23and Me.
7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 34,226 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 15).
8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 55,996 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 60) , and 115,256 source citations (up 726). I TreeShared twice this week updating 192 profiles, and I resolved 826 Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 122,528 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.
9) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which three were press releases. The most popular post last week was RootsTech 2020 SLC Keynote Speakers and Entertainment Lineup with over 297 views.
