Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1686 Marriage Record of Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard in Concord, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1686 marriage record of Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard in the Concord, Massachusetts vital town record book:

The marriage record for Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard are near the top of the page:

This record says:

"
"Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard, both of Concord, Marryed January y^e 4th 1686.    by me Edward Bulkely Minister of Concord."

The source citation for this record is:

George Tolman (compiler), Concord, Massachusetts Births, Marriages and Deaths, 1635-1850 (Concord, Mass. : Committee on Printing, 1894), Middlesex County Register, page 27, Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard marriage entry, 1686.

The entry above the Goble/Shepard marriage is from August 1686, and the entry below it is from August 1687, so this marriage date should be 4 January 1686/7.

This record is a Derivative Source with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the names of Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard, and the marriage date and place.  The Original Source is a town record book marriage register and a county marriage register that are no longer available.  Apparently, the records in this book are from a copy of the original register.  They are still Primary Information and Direct Evidence for the names and marriage event.

Thomas Goble (1656-1724) was the son of Thomas and Ruth (--?--) Goble of Concord.  Sarah Shepard (1667-1746) was the daughter of John and Sarah (Goble) Shepard of Concord.  They married 4 January 1686/7 in Concord, Massachusetts.

Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard are my 7th great-grandparents, through their daughter Mary Goble (1694-1734) who married John Fletcher (1692-????) in Watertown in 1715.
