CANCELED: SDGS Meeting on Saturday, 14 March Features Gena Philibert-Ortega

UPDATED:  Canceled due to Corona Virus panic.

The next meeting of the San Diego Genealogical Society is this Saturday, 14 March 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews Lutheran Church (8350 Lake Murray Blvd., San Diego CA 92119).

The program speaker for both sessions is Gena Philibert-Ortega.  Her presentations will be:

10 a.m.:       25 Tips For Researching Your Female Ancestors

11:30 a.m.:  The Secret Lives of Women: Research Female Ancestors Using the Sources They Left Behind

Why is finding a female ancestor so difficult? One reason is the way we research their lives. Successful research must combine familiar genealogical sources and the specific sources that women left behind. It is the sources that women authored or participated in that tell us their unique story.  In this lecture we look at the specific trail women left including signature quilts, community cookbooks, journals, and diaries.

The public is always welcome!  There is no charge for this program.

There are two classes in the upstairs classrooms at 9 a.m.

*  Local Resources, with Susi Pentico.

*  Reunion, with Anna Alves.

Space is limited. Register at sdgsclasses@gmail.com prior to a class so that space and enough handouts are available.

 Please park in the main church parking lot, in the Jackson Drive parking lot, or street parking along Jackson Drive.  DO NOT park in the neighboring strip mall.  Carpooling is encouraged.
Thank you in advance.
