Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:
1) Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group meeting on Wednesday, 17 June, via Zoom with 15 attendees, including DNA expert Kitty Cooper. In the first hour, we discussed the Ancestry cease and desist letter about clustering and the implications of it, Shared Clustering new spreadsheet tool, demonstrated the MyHeritage use of the Genetic Affairs clustering tool, and my progress on AncestryDNA ThruLines. In the second hour, the attendees shared their DNA test analysis successes and challenges.
2) Participated in the Mini-Myrt Zoom meetings on Tuesday through Saturday. Offered some commentary about my research and genealogical resources.
3) Watched the CeCe Moore keynote video from I4GG 2020. Watched Family Tree Webinar
Finding Your 18th Century Ancestors in England by Paul Milner.
Finding Your 18th Century Ancestors in England by Paul Milner.
4) Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandmother #545 Sarah (Clarke) (Bowers) Smith (1646-1704) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.
5) Transcribed the 1683 Will of Henry Smith (16097-1687) of Medfield, Mass. for Amanuensis Monday.
6) Downloaded the Chromosome Ethnicity file and the DNA Match Chromosome Browser file from 23 and Me.
7) Added Notes to 14 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors. Added one more ThruLine to my RootsMagic tree. Ancestry added 131 new DNA Matches this week. Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.
8) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 36,224 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 163).
9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 57,990 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 154) , and 122,859 source citations (up 487). I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree two times this week updating 319 profiles, and I resolved 1090 Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 131,804 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.
10) Wrote 20 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which one was a press release. The most popular post last week was Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 7 to 13 June 2020 with over 427 views.
11) We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much. I went to the grocery store on Monday and Thursday, and Costco on Friday, and it wasn't too busy. Daughter Lori came on Friday night to visit and made dinner twice and cleaned up the kitchen and bathroom - a darling girl! Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating and sleeping, plus reading ebooks on my laptop while watching TV.
