Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1683 Marriage Record of Zacharie Barber and Abiell Ellice in Medfield, Massachusetts

It's Treasure Chest Tuesday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1683 marriage record of Zacharie Barber and Abiell Ellice in the Medfield, Massachusetts town vital record book:

The marriage record is the first entry for ELLICE:

The transcription of this record is:

"ELLICE (see Elice, Ellis), Abiell and Zacharie Barber, Aug. 30, 1683

The source citation for this record is:

Vital Records of Medfield, Massachusetts to the Year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1903), Marriages, page 136, Abiell Ellice and Zacharie Barber entry, 30 August 1683.

This is a Derivative Source record for the marriage of Zachariah and Abiel (Ellis) Barber. It is Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the marriage date, marriage, and the names of Zacharie Barber and Abiell Ellice.  The original record is probably a Medfield town record that has been lost over the centuries.

Zachariah Barber (1656-1705) was the son of George and Elizabeth (Clarke) Barber of Medfield, Massachusetts.  He married Abiel Ellis (1662-1716), the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Wight) Ellis of Medfield.  Zachariah and Abiel (Ellis) Barber are my 7th great-grandparents, through their daughter Ruth Barber (1696-1761), who married Henry Smith (1680-1743) in 1730.
