It's Saturday Night -
time for more Genealogy Fun!
Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible! music) is to:
1) Write down which of your ancestors that you have met in person (yes, even if you were too young to remember them).
2) Tell us their names, where they lived, and their relationship to you in a blog post, or in comments to this post, or in comments on Facebook.
Here is my list:
* Betty Virginia (Carringer) Seaver (1919-2002), my mother, resided in San Diego CA her whole life.
* Frederick Walton Seaver (1911-1983), my father, resided in Leominster, MA until 1940 and then in San Diego until his death.
* Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976), my mother's father, who resided in San Diego his whole life.
* Emily Kemp (Auble) Carringer (1899-1977), my mother's mother, who resided in Chicago, Illinois until about 1911, then in San Diego until her death.
* Georgianna (Kemp) Auble (1868-1952), my great-grandmother (mother of Emily, grandmother of Betty), who resided in Norfolk County, Ontario until she went to Chicago, IL in the 1880s, and then to San Diego in about 1911.
* Henry Austin Carringer (1853-1946), my great-grandfather (father of Lyle, grandfather of Betty). He was born in Mercer County, PA, moved to Louisa County IA in the 1860's, then to Boulder County CO in the 1870's, and then to San Diego in 1887, and he lived out his life there.
* Della (Smith) Carringer (1862-1944), my great-grandmother (mother of Lyle, grandmother of Betty). She was born in Dodge County WI, lived in Taylor County IA, Andrew County MO, Clay, Pottawatomie and Cloud Counties KS, Red Willow County NE, and came to San Diego in 1887.
* Alma Bessie (Richmond) Seaver (1882-1962), my grandmother (mother of my father, Fred). She was born in Windham County CT, resided in Leominster MA from about 1895 to her death in 1962. I only met her once - in 1958 when she came to visit our family in San Diego.
My paternal grandfather, Frederick Walton Seaver (1876-1942), died just before my birth year of 1943.
So, I "met" eight of my ancestors. That's probably a pretty low number. Who will have the highest number? It wouldn't surprise me if someone comes up with 10 or 15 ancestors that they have "met."

I thought being the oldest child of young parents I would have an advantage on this game but I too have "met" 8. Two parents, 4 grandparents, 2 gr-grandparents. One grandfather and my gr-grandmother died when I was too young to remember them. All the rest lived long lives, into their 80's and beyond. One grandmother died at 99 years old! Only my mother is living, but luckily, she is very independent.
I have only 6. My 2 parents, 3 grandparents and 1 great grandmother.
I've met 9. I was lucky enough to have two great-grandmothers that lived until my early 20s.

Seven. My parents, 3 grandparents (though I don't remember one; he died before I was 3 months old), and two great-grandparents.
Both of my grandfathers died young; and my great-grandfathers were born in 1856/1863/1864/1878 (that's the one I met)
My grandmothers were around until I was an adult; my great-grandmothers were born in 1861/1864/1876/1884 (again, that's the one I met)
I have met only 6 ancestors. Too many early deaths in our family.

Mmm...my Dad was 36 when I was born and my mother 24. That’s 2 I've met. I’ve met and remember well, all 4 grandparents. Guess that’s it.
So my total is only 6.
I only met my parents - all my grandparents died before I was born. So my total is only 2.
I have met seven of my ancestors, so only one fewer than Randy.

Here's mine:

Five for me. I wrote about it on my blog: https://canadagenealogy.blogspot.com/2020/07/how-many-ancestors-have-you-met.html
I have only met 5 of my ancestors. My post.
This is cool! I met both my parents and one set of grandparents, dad’s. BTW, a book on Lizzie Borden by Cara Robertson mentions a Seaver...but I’ve returned the book so can’t tell you the first name.
I've met five of my ancestors, with a sixth (a great grandmother) living during my lifetime, but in Czechoslovakia. I unfortunately never met her.

Other than my parents, I met only two :( Here's my post:

4. Two parents and 2 grandmothers. Really long generations in my family. And I was #5 of 6 kids and my dad was 6 of 8.
I had five on my mother's side and none on my father's side. See http://dontaylorgenealogy.com/2020/07/ancestors-i-have-met.html/
