 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Montpelier [Vt.] Morning Journal newspaper dated 22 March 1910:

John Ryland Seaver was born 21 February 1831 in Williamstown, Vermont, the son of Alvin and Amanda (Farnham) Seaver.  He married (1) Fanny Flavilla Burnham (1837-1862) on 17 February 1856 in Barre, Vermont.  They had one child:

*  Henry Wendell Seaver (1859-1942), married (1) 1886 Cora Parrey (1865-1902); (2) 1894 Anne M. Thiessen (1870-1913); (3) 1914 Hanna S. Worthen (1870-????).

John Ryland Seaver married married (2) Ellen M. (Chase) Eaton (1839-1910) on 4 December 1867 in Montpelier, Vermont.  They had no children.

John Ryland Seaver is my 6th cousin 4 times removed, with common Seaver ancestors of Robert Seaver (1608-1683) and Elzabeth Ballard (1613-1657) of Roxbury, Mass.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person suffers an illness for years before death. I am glad that I can honor John Ryland Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
