Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 29 March 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended today's Mondays With Myrt webinar.  The panel discussed my Best of the Genea-Blogs, Liv's "lost sailor" mystery, Buffalo Soldiers repatriation using DNA testing, Findmypast parish registers, the Goldie Mae app, NERGC conference, Tony Proctor's SVG program, orphan trains, Pat's steamer trunk, the GPC sale, and Gena's blog post.

2)  Watched "Reporting on Research: Standards Encourage Better Communication" by Nancy A. Peters on Family Tree Webinars.

3)  Watched "Finding the Elusive Maiden Name" by Ann Lawthers on the FamilySearch YouTube channel (from RootsTech 2021).

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandfather #586 Joshua Fletcher  (1645-1713) of Concord and Chelsmford, Massachusetts  for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.

6)  AncestryDNA added 120 new DNA matches this past week, with three new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 20 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 16 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added three new ThruLines to RootsMagic.

7)  Created spreadsheets for my MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe DNA matches to keep track of match information, including known common ancestors, in common with, in DNA Painter, in RootsMagic, and pertinent notes.

8)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 41,267 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 133).

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 62,442 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 153), and 135,532 source citations (up 419).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 350 profiles, and I resolved 1,686 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 149,536 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

10)  Wrote 15 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most viewed post last week was "Amanuensis Monday -- 1684 Will of George Wheeler (1606-1687) of Concord, Massachusetts" with over 380 views.

11)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 54 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  I went to my root canal appointment on Tuesday, and now need another.  We watched several NCAA basketball games.  We went masked to outdoor church on Sunday (first service since November) and talked to and fist bumped some friends.  I got the taxes done, and tried but failed to get Padres tickets for the first homestand.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, eating, sleeping, cleaning, cooking, and a little yard work (like picking weeds and  leaves).
