Elizabeth "Mayner" was born 2 April 1664 in Marlborough, Massachusetts Bay, the fourth child and third daughter of John and Mary (Gates) Maynard (or Mainord)[1-3]. The surname is spelled several ways in the record books.
Elizabeth Maynard (1664-1733) married Nathan Brigham (1671-1747) before 1693 (at about age 29), probably in Marlborough[1]. Nathan was the son of Thomas and Mary (Rice) Brigham of Marlborough. They had eight children[1]:
* Nathan Brigham (1693-1784), married (1) 1717 Dinah Rice (1693-1725); (2) 1729 Hepzibah Ward (1708-1748); (3) 1751 Martha (--?--) Gleason (1700-????).
* Thomas Brigham (1695-1765), married 1720 Sarah Stratton (1700-1775).
* Tabitha Brigham (1698-1731).
* Elizabeth Brigham (1700-1757), married 1722 John Stow (1696-1761).
* Sarah Brigham (1701-1744), married 1727 Uriah Eager (1700-1780).
* Ziporah Brigham (1704-1790), married 1733 John Warren (1701-1783).
* Hannah Brigham (1706-1781), married 1732 Jabez Rice (1702-1783).
* Ephraim Brigham (1708-1771), married 1730 Hannah Willard (1707-1775).
The will of Elizabeth's father, John Mainord, was proved on 8 January 1711/2 in Middlesex County Probate Court[4]. In his will, John Mainord bequeathed to his daughter Elizabeth Brigham:
"Item i doe will and Give unto my two daughters namly hannah davenport and Elizabeth Brigham as the remainder in mony prise, in cattell at the judgment of and apparent prisers, chosen by ???? party Concerned, to ?????? & deliver. Likwise i will & Give unto my daghter Elizabeth twentie Shillings in any Good marchantabell pay. I doe further will y't my daughter Hannah shall be first paid within the space of twoo years after my deceas."
Elizabeth (Maynard) Brigham was found dead, kneeling by a chair, on 29 March 1733 in her home in Marlborough at age 68[1,3,5]. She was buried in the Old Common Cemetery in Marlborough, but there is no extant gravestone[3].
