Seavers In The News -- Hobart L. Seaver Dies in 1954 in Barre, Vermont

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Barre [Vt.] Daily Times newspaper dated 29 January 1954:

The transcription of the article is:

"HOBART L. SEAVER

Creamery Store Manager Victim of Heart Attack

"Hobart L. Seaver, 48, died this morning at the Barre City hospital where he had been a patient since yesterday.

"Mr. Seaver, manager of the store at the Granite City Cooperative Creamery, had gone to work as usual and was stricken with a heart attack while he was shoveling snow.

"He was born April 16, 1905, in Washington, son of Leo and Edith (Hanson) Seaver.  He attended Washington School and Goddard seminary when it was in Barre.

"He had been employed at the creamery for the last 27 years.  Last month he moved to Burlington and since then had commuted to and from his employment here.

"Mr. Seaver, in 1953, married Miss. Katherine R. Bing of Burlington, who survives.  He also leaves a son by a former marriage, Russell Seaver of Washington; two brothers, Kenneth Seaver of Washington and Paul Seaver of Barre; one sister, Mrs. William (Lola) Carle of Barre.

Hobart Leigh Seaver (1905-1954) was born 16 April 1905 in Washington, Vermont, and died 29 January 1954 in Barre, Vermont.  He married (1) Esther Irene Bowman (1903-1992) on 2 September 1935 in Barre.  They had one child:

*  Russell Leo Seaver (1936-????), who married Barbara Rose Bagalio (1935-2001) in 1955.

Hobart Leigh Seaver married (2) Katherine Patricia (Ryan) Bing (1906-1992) on 30 December 1953 in Vermont.

I am an 8th cousin twice removed to Hobart Leigh Seaver.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683) of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person dies relatively young soon after marrying a second time. I am glad that I can honor Hobart Leigh Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
