Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom. I reported on the newsletter, research group and DNA group activities. Wrote, edited and emailed the "CVGS Family History Gazette" Newsletter for October.
2) Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society 75th Anniversary meeting on Zoom. Judy G. Russell presented "Making a Federal Case Out Of It" and "Through the Golden Door" and CeCe Moore presented "Genetic Genealogy Case Studies from the PBS Television Series “Finding Your Roots”. and "The Power of Investigative Genetic Genealogy to Solve Cold Cases and Identify John and Jane Does."
3) Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt Zoom webinar. We discussed Indigenous Peoples Day, the "MyHeritage Theory of Family Relativity" update, the 6 BCG webinars on Family Tree Webinars, my 52 Ancestors post, preserving your work product, Diana's 1930 census breakthrough, the 1950 Census genie series, FamilySearch search changes, and miscellaneous family history notes.
4) Worked some more in RootsMagic 8 on my desktop computer. Received a key from RootsMagic and that worked. Disconnected my Ancestry tree from RootsMagic 7. FamilySearch Family Tree interaction works, as do web hints for FamlySearch, MyHeritage and Findmypast. The Ancestry TreeShare does not work, probably because my tree is much larger than 15,000 perosons - there is no explanation for this to date. Ancestry Web Hints don't work either since I cannot connect to my existing Ancestry tree.
5) Transcribed a deed record in Amanuensis Monday -- 1766 Deed of Norman Sever Selling Land in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts to Isaac Temple.
6) Published a genealogy biography of 7th great-grandmother #623 Grace (Warren) Morse (1671-1753) of Watertown and Marlborough, Massachusetts.
7) AncestryDNA added 42 new DNA matches this past week, with one new ThruLines and MyHeritage added 17 new DNA matches with 4 new Theory of Family Relativity. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Added Notes to 1 more AncestryDNA match with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added one new ThruLines to RootsMagic. Added a note to one MyHeritage DNA match and added one ToFR to RootsMagic.
8) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 44,951 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 57).
9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 66,219 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 101), and 142,856 source citations (up 150). I did not TreeShare with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 432 Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 158,365 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.
10) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts the past week, of which two were a press release. The most viewed post the past week was Exploring RootsMagic 8 - #1 - the Main Screens with over 394 views.
11) I am still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 82 of COVID-19 isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day. The physical therapists came twice last week and have her up and walking a bit with the walker. Tami came to visit on Sunday and brought lemon meringue pie and peanut brittle for her. The Aztecs and Chargers won their games. I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and a little yard work.

Hi Randy, I don't believe TreeShare has a provision for connecting an existing RM database to an existing Ancestry tree. I left my Ancestry tree connected to my RM7 database, did the import to RM8 and the connection worked in RM8.
Regards, Larry
Randy, your COVID isolation countdown reminds me of how much I miss seeing my genea-friends at conferences like Jamboree. I always watch your last item on your weekly "Genealogy Pot-Pourri" as one substitute way to connect, and am glad to see Linda has been up and walking, if only a little bit at a time. Progress with persistence. Every little bit helps!
