Seavers in the News -- Mrs. Cora L. Seaver Dies in Los Angeles in 1961

  It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the The Kokomo [Ind.] Tribune newspaper dated 11 August 1961:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary provides the name, age, approximate death date and place, spouse's name, children's names, but no occupation and associations information.

Cora Lenore (Bell) Seaver (1872-1961) was born 20 August 1872 in Howard County, Indiana, daughter of Thomas and Maria Ann (Wilson) Bell.  She died 9 August 1961 in Los Angeles.  She married William Earl Seaver (1874-1955) on 10 April 1897 in Kokomo, Indiana.  They had three children:

*  Mazie Bell Seaver (1898-1987), married 1920 Harry A. Davies (1895-1953).
*  Mary Madeline Seaver (1906-1994), married 1928 Lester Quinton Harness (1901-149); (2) Richard Ernest Kershner (1904-1971).
*  Edgar Earl Seaver (1909-1987), married 1947 Lela May Long (1918-1987).

I am not related to William Earl Seaver (1874-1955).  He is descended from Henry and Elizabeth (--?--) Seaver of Virginia in the 18th century.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary provides little interesting information. I am glad that I can honor Cora Lenore (Bell) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
