Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 21 February 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group Meeting on Zoom, with about 40 in attendance.  I discussed RootsTech 2022, What Are the Odds (WATO), and demonstrated my DNA Match List analysis process on AncestryDNA.  Presented my "How to Find Common Ancestors" process.

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society British Isles SIG meeting on Saturday on Zoom.  Colin Whitney presented "Emigration From the British Isles, Part I."

3) Transcribed a deed record in 1743 Deed of Land in Westborough, Massachusetts by Solomon Rice to Nathan Brigham for Amanuensis Monday.

4) Published a genealogy biography of
#155 Lydia (Maynard) Bathrick (1722-1802) of Westborough, Massachusetts for the 52 Ancestors theme.

5)  Created a GEDCOM file in RootsMagic, then downloaded the Family Tree Analyzer program and uploaded a GEDCOM file to it.  It found scores of minor data entry errors, and I corrected many of them in RootsMagic.  No surprise - errors in typing are inevitable.

6)  Searched for and collected land deeds for 6th great-grandfather Nathan Brigham in Worcester and Middlesex Counties, Massachusetts.  Transferred the downloaded deed images to the Nathan Brigham file folders on my computer.

7)  Relatives At RootsTech became live on Thursday, and I checked dozens of potential relationships using it, mainly from Facebook Friends.

8) AncestryDNA added 128 new DNA matches this past week, and there were two new ThruLines. MyHeritage added 24 new DNA matches. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 5 AncestryDNA matches and added no ThruLine to RootsMagic.  Added one line for a MyHeritage DNA match to RootsMagic.

9)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 47,306 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 7).

10) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 68,838 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 26 from last week), and 144,264 source citations (up 32). I TreeShared 152 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 1244 Ancestry Hints. My newest Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 23,955 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

11) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Relatives at RootsTech 2022 Experience is Here with over 209 views.

12) I am still fine here at the Genea-Cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 101 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we usually play Uno and she wins about half the time.  I contracted with a guy over a week ago to cut down my bushes and trim my trees, and he's still working on it.  I sold the 2005 Lincoln to him too.   I went to the grocery store on Tuesday and Friday. I watched the Olympics occasionally.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and no yard work.
