4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

Several generations of the Maynard family were included in the Marlborough, Massachusetts town history book, but with only vital dates and without life details. James's birth and spouse's name are provided in the sketch[1].

The last name Maynard, Mainard and Mainord were interchangeable in the time period that James Maynard lived in Massachusetts Bay Colony.

James Maynard was born 31 March 1694 in Marlborough, Massachusetts Bay, the third child and third son of John and Lydia (Ward) Maynard[1,3].

He married Mary Morse (1697-????) on 6 January 1718/9 in Marlborough[4] at the age of 23.  She was the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Warren) Morse of Marlborough.  They had 11 children, and all but the first two were born in Westborough, Massachusetts Bay.

*  Beatee Maynard (1721-????).
*  Lydia Maynard (1722-1802), married 12 May 1742 in Westborough to David Bathrick (1722-1794).
*  James Maynard (1723-1773), married 6 November 1755 in Shrewsbury to Zeruah Johnson (1737-????).
*  Mary Maynard (1725-1801), married 5 October 1744 in Westborough to Ephraim Bruce (1724-1759).
*  Mariam Maynard (1726-1793), married 12 March 1752 in Westborough to Abraham Howe Beaman (1729-1815).
*  Phineas Maynard (1729-1772), married 8 January 1754 in Westborough to Dorothy Rice (1731-1793).
*  John Maynard (1731-????).
*  Abigail Maynard (1733-????), married 1 March 1754 in Southborough to Joshua Locke (1732-????).
*  Olif Maynard (1734-1744).
*  Amasa Maynard (1737-1822), married 20 September 1761 in Westborough to Jane Stone (1739-????).
*  Betty Maynard (1743-1756).

John Maynard, father of James, wrote his will on 15 April 1731 and it was proved in Middlesex County Probate Court on 14 June 1731[2].  In his will, John bequeathed to his son James:
"Item I give unto my beloved son James Maynard all the land and meadow Ground I have where he my said son James now Dwells be the same more or less, with a certain Lot of meadow scituate in a meadow called Great middle meadow being part of William Kerleys afore said his second devision of meadow in Marlborough be it more or less, also all the Right I have in the last Devision of meadow commonly called the common meadow, that belongs to me on my said Honoured father John Maynard Right, also ten acre town Right without said cow common belonging to John Ruttes his Grant in said marlborough."
The land bequeathed by his father to James Maynard was probably located in what is now Westborough in Worcester County, Massachusetts.

There are no death records, burial records, or probate records for James and Mary (Morse) Maynard.  Their last known child was born in 1743, and James and Mary probably died after 1743.

NOTE: In 2014, Amy Johnson Crow suggested a weekly blog theme of "52 Ancestors" in her blog post 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks on the No Story Too Small blog. I have extended this theme in 2022 for a ninth year to 468 Ancestors in 468 Weeks. The (incomplete) list of 52 Ancestors biographies from my great-grandparents to the 7th great-grandparents (in work) is in https://www.geneamusings.com/p/ancestor-biographies.html.
