Treasure Chest Thursday - 1800 United States Census for Humphry White Household in Glocester, R.I.

 It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1800 U.S. Census record for Humphry White enumerated in Glocester, Providence County, Rhode Island:

The snippet for the Humphry White household and other White households:

The extracted information from this record for the Humphry White household is:

*  2 free white males under age 10
*  1 free white male aged 10-15
*  1 free white male over age 45
*  3 free white females under age 10
*  1 free white female aged 10-15
*  1 free white female over age 45.

The source citation for this record is:

1800 United States Federal Census, Providence, Rhode Island, Glocester town, page 130 (penned) or page 417 (stamped, image 53 of 57), Humphry White household; digital image, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com); citing National Archives Microfilm Publication M32, Roll 45.

Who were the young persons enumerated in the Humphry White household?  If they were children of Humphrey White (1757-1814) and Sibel (Kirby) White (1764-1848), who married in 1786 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, then they are probably:

*  Meribah White (c1787-????) (female aged 10-15)
*  Benjamin White (1789-1863) (male aged 10-15)
*  David White (1793-1859) (male under age 10)
*  Elizabeth White (1795-1841) (female under age 10)
*  Martha White (1797-1841) (female under age 10)
*  Humphrey White (1797-????) (male under age 10)
*  Nancy White (1798-????) (female under age 10)

Humphrey White is certainly the head of household and is listed as over 45 years, although he was born about 1757, so really age about 43.

Sibel Kirby is certainly the female listed as over 45 years, although she was born in 1764, so really about age 36.

Unfortunately, most of the entries in this census enumeration were not in alphabetical or geographical order, they were generally by the first letter of the surname.  For example, the entry above Humphry White is for Daniel Wall and the entry after Douglass White is for Thomas West.

There are also entries for four other White households on this page listed below Humphry White:

*  Joseph White
*  John White
*  Asa White
*  Douglass White

None of these men were siblings of Humphry White or his father.  They are other residents of Glocester that were listed in the census enumeration.

Humphrey White (c1757-1814) and Sibel (Kirby) White (1764-1848) are my 4th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their son, Jonathan White (1803-1850) who married Miranda Wade (1803-1850) in about 1823 in Rhode Island.
