Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 29 August 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Worked on sorting out which Samuel Buck of Sutton, Massachusetts was the man who named three children in his 1760 will.  Apparently, he married at least twice but the set of available records are inconclusive.  Wrote about this in Rabbit Holes With Randy - Which Mary Buck is Rebecca's Ancestor?

2)  Finally bit the bullet and used RootsMagic TreeShare to upload my full research family tree (over 69, 930 profiles) to a new Ancestry Member Tree and connected the Ancestry tree to my AncestryDNA test.  The upload "lost" over 300 profiles in RootsMagic but not in Ancestry).  In addition, a number of profiles (including my own and my parents and grandparents, and many others) were not connected as families but the profiles were in the Ancestry tree without connections to parents or children.  I fixed most of them by using the Tree Search feature on Ancestry for most of the "disconnected."

3)  Published a genealogy biography for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandfather  #714 Joseph Allen (1667-1735) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

4) Transcribed a probate record document -  1872 Widow's Allowance for Estate of William Seaver (1812-1872) of Worcester, Massachusetts - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

5) AncestryDNA now has 40,800 DNA matches (up 24 from 22 August) for me today, with one new ThruLines.  MyHeritageDNA now has 10,655 DNA matches (up 18 from 22 August) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added notes to 2 AncestryDNA matches.

6)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,348 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 30).

7) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,934 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 20 from 22 August), and 145,335 source citations (up 21). I TreeShared 357 new or modified profiles with my new Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 1,522  Ancestry Hints. My new Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 175,441 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 200,340 Record Matches in 286 sources and I work on them occasionally.

8) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Findmypast Friday: Ireland Journals, British Marriages, Newspapers, and More with over 181 views.

9)  Real life:  This is week 129 since COVID restrictions.  My recovery from the 30 May heart bypass surgery is (I hope)  complete.  I am still really tired every day, take at least two naps each day, and try to walk for 30 minutes every day on the block. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her six times last week.   I went shopping on Monday and Friday.   I watched the Padres games every day and we are now 70-59 on the season (2-3 last week).  I watched several Little League World Series games too.

Impressed that you decided to upload your entire gigantic RM family tree and connected it to your Ancestry DNA!
