Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 7 November 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom.  We talked a lot about the society election, the newsletter format, and the website content.

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group meeting on Saturday.  Kathy Fernandes presented "How-to Guide to using DNA Test Results in Genealogical Research."

3)  Watched five presentations on the WikiTree Symposium and WikiTree Day, including both panels on "The Future of Genealogy."  I also watched Amy Johnson Crow's talk on the WANDER method, Marian B. Wood's talk on Find A Grave, and AJ Jacobs on the Puzzle of Genealogy.  I have a list of about 10 other talks to see in the next 30 days.

4)  Finished reading The Sawtooth Slayer by Nathan Dylan Godwin.  There are several good genealogy and DNA research hints throughout the book.

5)  Published a genealogy sketch for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandfather #724 John Tracy (1663-1701) of Duxbury, Massachusetts.

6)  Transcribed a probate record for 1828 Petition to Appoint Guardian of Spendthrift Edward Sever of Westborough, Massachusetts for Amanuensis Monday.

7) AncestryDNA now has 41,227 DNA matches (up 60 from 31 October) for me today, with one  new ThruLines, which I think is wrong.  Added Notes to 1 of them, and added no lines to  RootsMagic.   MyHeritageDNA now has 10,824 DNA matches (up 9 from 31 October) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 48,489 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 4).

9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 70,097 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 5 since 31 October), and 145,432  source citations (up 3). I TreeShared 40 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 503  Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 175,379 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 200,305 Record Matches in 286 sources and I work on them occasionally.

10) Wrote 15 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 31 October 2022 with over 183 views.  Genea-Musings had about 23,900 views last week.

11)  Real life:  This is week 139 since COVID restrictions started.  Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her five times last week.   I went grocery shopping on Tuesday and Friday.   I watched the last four World Series games.  My Aztecs won on Saturday night and my Chargers won on Sunday.
