Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1654 Birth Record for Thomas Chase (1654-1734) in Newbury, Massachusetts Bay

It's time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1654 birth record of Thomas Chase in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay

The birth record is the 8th record of the Anno 1654 section:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"[Anno 1654] Thomas ye son of Aquila Chase was borne July 25th"

The source citation for this record is:

"Massachusetts, U.S., Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988," indexed database and digital images, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com), "Newbury Births, Marriages, Deaths," page 8 (image 324 of 2384), Thomas Chase birth entry.

This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Thomas Chase.  The original record is probably in a Newbury town record book that is not extant.

Thomas Chase (1654-1734) was born 25 July 1654 in Newbury, Massachusetts Bay, the son of Aquila and Ann (Wheeler) Chase.  He married 22 November 1677 in Newbury to Rebecca Follansbee (1658-1711), the daughter of Thomas and Mary (--?--) Follansbee.

Thomas and Rebecca (Follansbee) Chase are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their daughter  Mary Chase (1695-1734) who married  John Horton (1696-1796), in 1719 in Swansea, Massachusetts.
