Treasure Chest Thursday - 1878 Gravestone of Lutie Smith on Find A Grave

I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1878 gravestone of Lutie Smith (1875-1878) from Find A Grave:

The transcription of this gravestone is:

"Our Little
Lutie
Son of D.J.
and A.A. Smith
died
Mar. 19 1878
Age 2

The source citation for this  death record is:

Find a Grave, database and images (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/96353655/lutie-smith: accessed 11 October 2023), memorial page for Lutie Smith (16 Jun 1875–19 Mar 1878), Find a Grave Memorial ID 96353655, citing Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Cloud County, Kansas, USA; Maintained by Judy Mayfield (contributor 46636512).

Lucian H. "Lutie" Smith (1875-1878) was the son of my 2nd great-grandparents, Devier J. and Abbie (Vaux) Smith.  He was born 16 June 1875 in Bedford, Iowa, and died 19 March 1878 in Concordia, Kansas.  He was the 5th and last child of Devier and Abbie, and the second who died as a small child.  I can't imagine the devastation that they experienced.  Lutie is my great-granduncle.

I never knew if Lutie was a boy or a girl.  The gravestone makes it clear!  I had not found this memorial before today.
