Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 9 June 2024

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Attended the Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County (GSSCC) program meeting on Tuesday on Zoom, with Gail Burk presenting "Adventures in Collaboration: Exploring Ostfriesland."

2)  Wrote, edited and distributed the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) monthly "Family History Gazette" newsletter on Sunday.

3)  Participated in Mondays With Myrt on Monday (3 June) on Streamyard.  We discussed Myrt's interview with Nathan Dylan Goodwin, AI use for BCG and ICAPGen, using GEDOM for WikiTree, and Dana Leesds' new YouTube channel.

4)  Transcribed the 1823 Deed of Thomas Partridge to Daniel Henry in Ashtabula County, Ohio for the Amanuensis Monday theme.

5)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for my uncle Stanley Richmond Seaver (1905-1910) of Massachusetts  for 52 Relatives theme.

7)  Downloaded the free Legacy Family Tree version 10 and uploaded my tree to it and worked in the Reports section for awhile.

8)  "Wrote" several poems using ChatGPT-4o to determine adequacy.  I love it!  See Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Write a Genealogy Poem Using Artificial Intelligence for an example.

9)  AncestryDNA now has 46,055 DNA matches (up 64 from 2 June) with 1957 "close" matches for me today, with one new ThruLines.  I added Notes to 1 new Matches, and no new Match lines to RootsMagic.  MyHeritageDNA now has 12,576 DNA matches (up 9 from 2 June) for me.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

10)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 51,426 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 3).

11) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 73,123 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 2), and 146,887 source citations (up 7).  TreeShared no new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree.  Resolved 204 Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 20,685 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

12) Wrote 16 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Legacy Family Tree Version 10 Released - It's FREE!   with over 210 views.  Genea-Musings had about 64,700 page views last week and over 280,185 views for the past month.

13)  Real life:  I traveled on Wednesday to Santa Cruz to attend grandson Logan's high school graduation on Friday, and returned on Sunday.  Met Gail  Burk on Thursday for lunch and we talked about families and genealogy.  Talked about the Italian research on my grandsons' ancestry with their dad and aunt.  Almost finished reading John Sandford's Righteous Prey and read Brad Thor's Dead Fall on the trip. My Padres went 2-5 this week and are 34-35 on the season.
