=============================================

My friend and SDGS colleague, Marshall, provides this list to me from a program he wrote that compares the current FamlySearch record collections list to the previous week's list.

In order to select a specific record collection on FamilySearch, go to   https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list and use the "Filter by collection name" feature in the upper left-hand corner and use keywords (e.g. "church england") to find collections with those keywords.

Each one of the collections listed above has a Research Wiki page (use the "Learn more" link). It would be very useful if the Wiki page for each collection listed the dates for when the collection was added as a new collection and the dates for major updates also.

Findmypast Friday: Findmypast Publishes Vast New Collection of Australian Passenger Lists, and More!

  I received this from Findmypast this morning:

============================================
Findmypast publishes vast new collection of Australian Passenger Lists

This week’s Findmypast Friday sees the publication of a new and improved collection of Australian Passenger Lists featuring 9 million new records.

Findmypast’s latest new additions also include an exclusive collection of Middlesex Poor Law records, new parish baptisms, marriages and burials from the Devon Family History Society and a whole host of historical newspapers.

Australia, Inward, Outward & Coastal Passenger Lists 1826-1972

Did your ancestors travel to, from or around Australia? To help you uncover details of their voyage, Findmypast has merged their vast collection of Australian passenger lists into one simple search and added over 9 million new entries.

This growing collection now contains over 26 million of records from multiple sources covering all corners of Australia, including;
  • Australian National Passenger Lists 1898-1972
  • New South Wales passenger lists (assisted & unassisted)
  • 1881 British census crew and passengers on ships arriving in New South Wales
  • Queensland customs house shipping passengers and crew 1852-1885
  • South Australia passenger lists 1847-1886
  • Passengers to South Australia on board Buffalo 1836
  • Tasmania Departures 1817-1863
  • Victoria inward passenger lists 1839-1923
  • Victoria outward passenger lists 1852-1915
  • Victoria coastal passenger lists 1852-1924
Each record includes a transcript and many also include an image of the original record. Passenger lists vary widely in size, length, and level of detail, as there was no standardised format.

Some record only a minimum of information about the passengers, while others are quite detailed. As well as revealing the dates and location of arrival and departure, many records will also reveal a variety of useful biographical details such as ages, occupations, nationalities, marital status, places of birth or residence

Middlesex Poor Law Records

Only searchable online at Findmypast, these fascinating records cover 10 Middlesex parishes between 1699 and 1846, including;
  • Chelsea, St Luke
  • Ealing, St Mary
  • Feltham, St Dunstan
  • Fulham, All Saints
  • Hammersmith, St Paul
  • New Brentford, St Laurence
  • Shepperton, St Nicholas
  • Staines, St Mary
  • Stanwell, St Mary
  • Uxbridge, St Margaret
In the records, you'll find everything from settlement examinations to bastardy bonds, all packed with rich family details.

Devon Parish Records

Over 240,000 new parish baptisms, marriages and burials have been added to Findmypast’s unrivalled collection of Devon Parish records. Published in partnership with the Devon Family History Society, these new additions are now available to search online for the very first time, only on Findmypast. This includes;

Check Findmypast’s Devon parish list for churches marked as 'New' for more detail and what is included.

The partnership between Findmypast and the Devon FHS has already resulted in the online publication of over 1.5 million exclusive records from across the county and the two organisations will continue to work together to bring more vital records online for the first time.

4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

The biography and descendants of John Wilson, who eventually settled in Woburn, Massachusetts, is provided by the book Wilsons From New England, Volume ""J - Descendants of John Wilson of Woburn, Massachusetts, by Ken Stevens, published in 1991[1].

John Wilson was born 3 January 1673 in Woburn, Massachusetts, the son of John and Johanna (Carter) Wilson[1-2].  The Wilson family bought land in Billerica in about 1682.

He married Elizabeth Foster on 27 October 1694 in Billerica, Massachusetts[1.3].  She was the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Gorton) Foster of Billerica, Massachusetts.

They had 13 children, all born and recorded in the Billerica town vital record book:

*  John Wilson (1695-1764), married 1722 Jemima Shed (1698-1740).
*  Elizabeth Wilson (1697-1786), married 1721 William Frost (1694-1738).
*  Joseph Wilson (1699-????), married 1732 Sarah Wilson (1694-1763).
*  Joanna Wilson (1702-1786), married 1723 Hezekiah Sawtell (1703-1779).
*  Alice Wilson (1703-1756), married 1724 Isaac Stearns (1700-1739).
*  Jacob Wilson (1705-1776), married 1737 Hannah --?-- (1710-????).
*  Sarah Wilson (1706-1744), married 1730 John Dean (1705-????).
*  Mary Wilson (1708-????)
*  Esther Wilson (1710-1729)
*  Dorcas Wilson (1711-????), married 1745 Ebenezer Wyman (1706-1760).
*  Seth Wilson (1713-1783), married 1744 Mary Evans (1720-1793).
*  Benjamin Wilson (1715-????).
*  Rebecca Wilson (1717-1729).

John and Elizabeth Willson made an agreement with Elizabeth's brother, Joseph Foster, on 21 December 1721 that better defined the real property that she was to receive from the estate of her father, also Joseph Foster[4].

There is no apparent death record for John Wilson.  He died after 21 December 1721. There is no apparent probate record for John Wilson of Billerica.

There is a Find A Grave memorial for John Wilson but it lists his death as 1 June 1715, six years before he signed the agreement.

Seavers in the News -- Charles Earnest Seaver Dies in 1952 in Doylestown, Ohio

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Akron [Ohio] Beacon Journal newspaper dated 7 October 1952:

The transcription of the article is:

"CHARLES E. SEAVER
DOYLESTOWN -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Monbarren Funeral Home for Charles Earnest Seaver, 68, who died suddenly at home.

"Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

"Mr. Seaver was a life resident of Doylestown.  He was a retired tire builder at the Seiberling Rubber Co.

"He leaves his wife, Lettie; two sons, Russell and Ernest, both of Barberton; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Hornbeck of Barberton and Mrs. Alice Rector and Mrs. Lois Hughes, both of Akron; 19 grandchildren; a brother, Ora of Akron, and four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Tripp, Mrs. Carrie Killert and Mrs. Myrtle Gordon, all of Barberton, and Mrs. Blanche Fleckinger of Cuyahoga Falls."

The source citation is:

"Charles E. Seaver," The Akron [Ohio] Beacon-Journal newspaper, 7 October 1952, page 49, column 2, Charles Earnest Seaver obituary;  Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 6 May 2021).

This obituary provides a name, an age, a death date and place, the names of his wife, living children,  and siblings, plus a limited description of his work history.

Charles Earnest Seaver was born 22 June 1884 in Doylestown, Ohio, the son of Christopher Albert and Susan A. (Schafer) Seaver.  He died 4 October 1952 in Doylestown.  He married Lettie May Youngker (1886-1970) on 11 January 1905 in Wayne County, Ohio, Iowa, and they had five children:

*  Martha Aurelia Seaver (1905-1994, married 1929 George Theodore Hornbeck (1904-1983).
*  Russell Jacob Seaver (1907-1997), married 1929 Helen Marie Miller (1913-1987).
*  Ernest Ransom Seaver (1910-2007), married 1934 Oletta Irene Baughman (1915-2000).
*  Alice Caroline Seaver (1920-2017), married 1940 James Allen Rector (1916-2004).
*  Lois Mae Seaver (1928-????), married 1948 Clyde Woodrow Hughes (1923-2003).

I am not related to Charles Earnest Seaver to my knowledge.  He is the grandson of  Christian and Lydia (Kissinger) Seaver of Pennsylvania.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person lives his whole life in one place and has a lot of children, grandchildren and siblings. I am glad that I can honor Charles Earnest Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
