Two Genealogy Meetings on Thursday, 7 August

Hey San Diego area readers -- there are two excellent genealogy programs this Thursday, 7 August at the Tecolote Nature Center Classroom (5180 Tecolote Rd., Exit 21 on I-5 (Sea World Drive/Tecolote Rd), drive east about 0.5 mile, past the Recreation Center ball fields). The programs are free to attend, and all genealogists are welcome.

10 a.m. to 12 noon: German Genealogical Research, Questions and Answers with Reinhard Hofer (genealogist from Germany) sponsored by the German Research Association, Inc. Reinhard Hofer, of Ruhstorf, Niederbayern, Bavaria, is a professional genealogist specializing in German emigration research, Bavarian Church book research, research in all Bavarian archives on site, research also in Austrian and Czech archives, transcriptions of Latin and Old German writing, and the Holocaust.

1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.: An Afternoon with Michael Gandy. Renowned British genealogist Michael Gandy will present two topics -- Puritans and Quakers: 17th Century Emigrant Ancestry, and Huguenots: Many Went to America, sponsored by the British Isles Genealogical Research Association.

Take a sack lunch and enjoy time with other genealogists. Donations for both programs will be gratefully accepted.

This is a great idea for smaller specialty societies like GRA and BIGRA - work together and share meeting dates and costs.
