Family Photographs - Post 23: Lyle Carringer Family in 1919

I'm posting old family photographs from my collection on Wednesdays, but they won't be wordless posts like others do - I simply am incapable of having a wordless post.

Here is one of the most precious (to me) images from my Carringer family collection:

This is a picture of my mother, Betty Virginia Carringer, and her parents, Lyle and Emily (Auble) Carringer. It was taken in late 1919 or early 1920, since Betty was a babe in arms. She has a beautiful white dress and head covering, and Lyle and Emily are dressed up - was the occasion Betty's baptism? I don't have a baptism record for her. And check out Emily's fur coat and hat. At first glance, I thought that the hat included all of the foliage above Emily's head, but on close inspection it looks like there is a young palm tree directly in back of Emily. There is an automobile in back of the family, you can just see the left front wheel to the left of Emily, and the steering wheel to the right of Lyle. I think that this picture was taken in the driveway of the Carringer house at 2130 Fern Street in San Diego, looking toward the back of the house.
This photograph was handed down from Lyle and Emily (Auble) Carringer to Betty Virginia (Carringer) Seaver (who married Fred Seaver) to me, their son.
