The FGS Voice blog has the sad news that Sandra Hargreaves Luebking has passed away.
Please read In Memoriam: Sandra Hargreaves Luebking.
Sandra was a really beautiful person dedicated to genealogy research and education. Our Genealogy World is dimmed a bit today.
I met Sandra only once - at the Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference in Little rock, Arkansas in 2009. However, she was my (first!) editor (the "Genealogy 2.0" column in the quarterly FGS FORUM magazine), and for two years she shepherded me through the ins and outs of genealogy magazine column writing. I loved working with her long distance.
Welcome to my genealogy blog. Genea-Musings features genealogy research tips and techniques, genealogy news items and commentary, genealogy humor, San Diego genealogy society news, family history research and some family history stories from the keyboard of Randy Seaver (of Chula Vista CA), who thinks that Genealogy Research Is really FUN! Randy,
You said it so beautifully. As one who was also shepherded by Sandra in writing for the FORUM, I echo your words.
When I was back in Illinois, as a beginning genealogy librarian, I met Sandra, must have been around 1990. We became fast friends, Sandra always had words of encouragement and caring for me throughout the years.
We shared many things, and as a sweet insight to Sandra, we shared a love of toe nail polish. I just so happen to have painted my toes last night. I'm glad they were painted, she is approving.
Love you Sandra -
Sue Kaufman
rest in peace Sandra, that your work in this world never be forget, maybe someone, someday will follow your path and make the world remember you.
