New Databases at AmericanAncestors.org, and More!

The New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) continues to add new database resources to their online collection on www.americanancestors.org.  The databases require an NEHGS subscription.

The complete list of available databases can be seen at  http://www.americanancestors.org/database-list/

The latest issue of American Ancestors Magazine (Winter 2014) lists these new databases:

*  The Mayflower Descendant, Volumes 51-55 (Volumes 1 to 55 is available)

*  Rhode Island Roots, Volumes 26 to 34 (Volumes 1 to 34 are available)

*  Rhode Island State Census, 1865-1915

*  Connecticut Vital Records (The Barbour Collection):  Bristol, Brooklyn, East Haven, Ellington, Franklin, Granby, Hamden, Hampton, Lisbon, Montville, North Haven, and Thompson.

*  New Hampshire Births, Marriages and Deaths to 1901 and New Hampshire Deaths and Marriages, 1901-1937.

*  Vermont Vital Records, 2008

*  Early New England Families -- Ten New Sketches

*  Family Tree Samplers

There is also a web page for Database News (which highlights new databases) at  http://www.americanancestors.org/Blogs.aspx?&blogid=124069.  You can use the highlighted dates on the calendar to see earlier or later new or updated databases.

NEHGS continues to add to their list of online periodical issues with complete page images.  These collections are searchable by name, date, location, etc.  If you have New England ancestry, these periodicals may have information on your ancestors.

There is a wealth of online resources on the AmericanAncestors.org website if you are an NEHGS subscriber.

If you're not a subscriber, there are some free databases listed at  http://www.americanancestors.org/free-databases/:

The real "gem" in the list of free databases is the Essex County, Mass: Probate File Papers, 1638-1840 collection.  If you had ancestors who left an estate in that time period, then you should be using that free database.
