SDGS Meeting in Saturday, 14 March - "Meatballs and Sauerkraut"

The Saturday, March 14th meeting of the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) starts at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews Lutheran Church (8350 Lake Murray Blvd., San Diego CA 92119).

The guest speaker is Toni Perrone on "German Genealogical Research" and  "Researching Your Italian Ancestors."


The presentations will cover many resources found in book form and on LDS film for both Germany and Italy, with many resources found solely at the Immigrant Genealogical Society Library (in Burbank), including methods of finding your town in Germany and in the other case Italy if they are unknown.

Toni has been speaking to genealogical societies in the country since 1981. Her experience stems from researching her German and Italian ancestry, as well as 33 years of volunteering at the Immigrant Library in Burbank California.

She is the co-founder of the Immigrant Genealogical Society and of the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society.

She served as Vice President and Program chairperson of the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society for two years and was an advisor to the board of directors there. She has a life membership there.

Presently she is the President of the Pommern Interest Group of the Immigrant Library. She is a member of the board of directors at the Immigrant Genealogical Society serving in many capacities. She is also a member of the San Diego Genealogical Council.

She has published articles in genealogical publications and has completed two books on her Claussen and Wiederrecht Families. She is currently working on a book for the Perrone family.

She continues to work for several private clients assisting them with their genealogy. She also volunteers at the Latter Day Saints Family History Center in Murrieta.

Toni received an award as lecturer in both 1999 and 2000 at The Federation of Eastern European Family History Society International Conventions. She also received an award from the city of Temecula for founding the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society.

Toni is a member of several Genealogical Societies.
