This is the first Voter Registration entry for Elijah McKnew in Tuolumne County.  In 1868, he was age 32, born in Maryland, worked as a farmer, and resided in Tuttletown in Tuolumne County.  He was a natural born citizen, so there was no entry in the Naturalized column.

Elijah McKnew (1836-1912) married Jane Whittle (1847-1921) in 1865 in Tuolumne County, California, and they had 11 children between 1867 and 1892.  Elijah and Jane (Whittle) McKnew are my wife's great-grandparents.

I have some Sharrock relatives that ended up in Tuolumne County - it always makes me laugh because I have to concentrate when I'm writing it out in my research notes. Fortunately, my computer spells it just fine :)
