time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Here is your assignment if you choose to play along (cue the Mission Impossible music, please!):
1) Reader Doug Greenhill suggested this challenge: "What is the time span between your first known immigrant direct ancestor to your last known immigrant direct ancestor?"
2) Tell us in a blog post of your own, in a comment to this blog post or in a status line on Facebook. Leave a comment with a link to your blog post if you write one.
Here's mine:
My earliest known immigrants to North America are my direct ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower in 1620 at Plymouth, Massachusetts - William White, Susanna (Jackson) White, Richard Warren, George Soule, Francis Cooke, John Cooke, Stephen Hopkins, Samuel Fuller, and William Brewster.
I may have an aboriginal North American ancestor if my autosomal DNA ethnicity estimate is correct (about 1%, so perhaps a 4th or 5th great-grandparent?), but I have not found that ancestor yet, nor their immigrant ancestor, and probably never will.
My most recent immigrant direct ancestor was my great-grandfather, Thomas Richmond (1848-1917), who came to New York on 14 November 1856 on the ship Osprey out of Bristol, along with his mother and siblings.
So 1620 to 1856 is 236 years time span between my first known immigrant ancestor and my last known immigrant ancestor.
Thank you to Doug for suggesting this challenge. By the way, Doug's time span is 283 years.

My earliest known ancestor immigrant was Peter Wolf (no joke) who was born in Germany in 1714. His children were born in the early 1740's in PA, so I'll estimate he came in 1735. My father arrived on the Queen Mary on May 2, 1949, a very hot day, near 100 according to him. So the difference is about 214 years.
My range is from the 1600's to 1922.

Since I'm Australian, my range is a lot shorter - 22 years. My earliest immigrant ancestors were my 2x great grandparents Joseph Whimpey and Margaret Price who came out in 1841, and my latest immigrant ancestors were my great grandmother, Sarah Jane Sharp, and her parents Henry Sharp and Jane Elizabeth Oldroyd, who came out in 1863.

my time span is 261 years, my husband's is 212 years.
