It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.
The treasure today is the 1667 marriage record of Joseph Tripp and Mehetabel Fish in the Dartmouth, Massachusetts Town Records:
The marriage record is on the left hand page:
The transcription of the marriage record is:
"Tripp, Joseph and Mehetabel Fish Aug 6 1667"
The source citation for this record is:
Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, indexed database and digital image, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com), "Dartmouth, Mass. Births, Marriages and Deaths," unnumbered page (image 357 of 2331), Joseph Tripp and Mehetabel Fish marriage entry, 1667.
My judgment is that this record is a derivative source record of the marriage of Joseph Tripp and Mehetabel Fish in the Dartmouth, Massachusetts town record book. The original town record book is, apparently, unavailable in this Ancestryrecord collection.
Joseph Tripp (1644-1718) was the son of John and Mary (Paine) Tripp of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Mehetabel Fish (1647-????) was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (--?--) Fish of Portsmouth. Joseph and Mehetabel (Fish) Tripp settled in Dartmouth, Massachusetts and had a family of 13 children.
Joseph and Mehetabel (Fish) Tripp are my 8th great-grandparents, through their daughter Mary Tripp (1689-1754) who married Thomas Wait (1683-1743).
