Monday Genea-Pourri - 8 July 2019

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Saturday Workshop at Bonita-Sunnyside Library with 25 in attendance.  CVGS member Patricia Diane Godinez presented "Welcome to FamilySearch.org" which highlighted how to start and continue your genealogy and family history research using FamilySearch.  This was a chart and poster board presentation instead of a Powerpoint presentation.  She also took photos of attendees grouped by ancestor origins - here's a photo of the attendees with British Isles ancestors:

 2)  Watched two Legacy Family Tree webinars -- Evaluating Shared DNA, by Paul Woodbury, and Remedies for Copy & Paste Genealogy, by Cyndi Ingle.

4)  Wrote and posted a biography of 6th great-grandmother #483 Anna (Beck) Van Vorst (1704-1749) of Schenectady, New York for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.

5)  Wrote, edited and published the July 2019 edition of the CVGS Newsletter - ten pages filled with articles about meetings, a member mini-biography, photos, links and tips.

6)  Polished up my two presentations and finished the two handouts for my San Diego Genealogical Society talks ("Randy's Top Ten Genealogy Search Tips" and "Using Collaborative 'Big' Family Trees") on Saturday, 13 July.  Just in time (whew!)!  Y'all come!!  This is the yearly ice cream social!!!  Randy Three-Scoops loves it.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 31,537 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.

8)  I continue to use Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 53,931 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 106,029 source citations.   I TreeShared once this week updating 195 profiles, and I resolved 301 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 112,910 to be resolved, but I try to work on them weekly.

9) Wrote 20 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were press releases.  The most popular post last week was
Added and Updated Record Collections at FamilySearch.org - Week of 30 June to 6 July 2019 with over 271 views.
