Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 22 to 28 September 2019

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Beware the Leaf Hints! by Christopher C. Child on Vita Brevis.

Part Two of The Brewster Book Manuscript Launch by Heather Wilkinson Rojo on Nutfield Genealogy.

How to Use's Sharing Links by History Chick on Genealogical Musings.

23andMe's Family Tree Beta by Louis Kessler on Behold Genealogy.

Book Review -- The Family Tree Historical Newspapers Guide by Julie Tarr on Julie's Genealogy and History Hub.

MyHeritage Live 2019 Lectures Now Online! by Esther on MyHeritage Blog.

Wayfinding by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

Superpower: Your Aunts’ and Uncles’ DNA is Your DNA Too – Maximize Those Matches! by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

*  Big upgrade to the Section Township and Range tool: more detail, more flexibility, new labels by Randy Majors on

When You Find a Surprise at the Local Thrift Shop by Denise Levenick on The Family Curator.

*  Using Academic Libraries for Your Genealogy by Amy Johnson Crow on Amy Johnson Crow.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thanks for mentioning my blog post about the new information on the Pilgrims revealed in Caleb Johnson's new book! It's been fun seeing it quoted in local New England newspaper articles this week, too!
