Surname Saturday -- LNU (Hannah, who married Edward Colburne; England to colonial New England)

It's Surname Saturday, and I'm "counting down" my Ancestral Name List each week.

I am working in the 9th great-grandmothers by Ahnentafel number, and I am up to Ancestor #2399 who is Hannah LNU (1620-1713). [Note: the more recent ancestral families have been covered in earlier posts.]

My ancestral line back through one generation in this LNU family line is:

1. Randall J. Seaver

2. Frederick Walton Seaver (1911-1983)
3. Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002)

4. Frederick Walton Seaver (1876-1942)
5. Alma Bessie Richmond (1882-1962)

8. Frank Walton Seaver (1852-1922)
9. Hattie Louise Hildreth (1857-1920)

18.  Edward Hildreth (1831-1899)
19.  Sophia Newton (1834-1923)

36.  Zachariah Hildreth (1783-1857)
37.  Hannah Sawtell (1789-1857)

74.  Josiah Sawtell (1768-1847)
75.  Hannah Smith (1768-1827)

148.  Ephraim Sawtell (1735-1800)
149.  Abigail Stone (1737-1800)

298.  James Stone (1702-1783)
299.  Mary Farwell (1709-1804)

598.  Joseph Farwell (1670-1740)
599.  Hannah Colburn (1673-1741)

1198.  Thomas Colburn (1649-1728)

1199.  Hannah Rolfe (1650-1681)

2396.  Edward Colborne, born 1618 in Wiltshire, England; died 17 February 1701 in Chelmsford, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States.  He married before 1642 in Massachusetts, United States.
2397.  Hannah LNU, born about 1620 in England; died before 23 January 1713 in probably Dracut, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States.

Children of Edward Colborne and Hannah are:
U*  Edward Colburn (1642-1675).
*  John Colburn (1645-1695), married 1671 Susanna Reed (1648-1739).
*  Robert Colburn (1647-1701), married 1669 Mary Bishop (1651-1700).
Thomas Colburn (1649-1728), married (1) 1672 Hannah Rolfe (1650-1681); (2) Mary Richardson (1662-????).
*  Daniel Colburn (1654-1712), married 1685 Sarah Blood (1658-1741).
*  Hannah Colburn (1656-1710), married 1682 Thomas Richardson (1661-1700).
*  Ezra Colburn (1658-1739), married 1681 Hannah Varnum (1661-1756).
*  Joseph Colburn (1661-1733), married (1) 1684 Hannah LNU (1663-1721); (2) 1722 Deborah Stevens (1676-????).
*  Lydia Colburn (1666-1720), married 1686 John Walker (1665-1726).

FamilySearch Family Tree indicates that Hannah LNU (1620-1713) is Hannah Rolfe (1620-1721), daughter of John Rolfe and Joane Coles.  I don't know if that is correct or not.  The 1663 will of John Rolfe does not mention a daughter Hannah or Colburn grandchildren.

Information on the Colborne family was obtained from:

1)  Kenneth L. Bosworth, "Edward Colborne of Ipswich, Massachusetts, (1618-1712) and Five Generations of his Descendants" [a manuscript at Huntington Beach Central Library, OCGS No 14,674, Jan 1995].

2)  Robert Charles Anderson, The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England, 1634-1635, Volume II (Boston, Mass., NEHGR, 2001, pages 144-149.

I have done no original research on this COLBURN/COLBORNE line.

I really hope you don't have her last name recorded in your genealogy as LNU, Randy. LNU = Last Name Unknown

Louis, no I don't use LNU or Unknown or similar as a last name in my RootsMagic database or my online trees. For these blog posts, I do use LNU in hopes that someone will know the last name. Occasionally, they do!

Was almost certain you didn't. You're such a role model for others, that I'm worried other people would see this and conclude it's good form to use it.
