4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

Frederick G. Rolfe published The Early Rolfe Settlers of New England, Volume I (Baltimore, Md : Gateway Press, Inc., 1995)[1] which was accessed on the FamilySearch Books at https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/424178-the-early-rolfe-settlers-of-new-england).  The book  provides information about this Rolfe family.

The entry in the book for Ephraim Rolfe says[1]:

"Ephraim Rolfe (5.54), son of Jonathan Rolph (4.64), was born about 1743, prob. at Perth Amboy, N.J.  He married Sarah Campbell, dau. of Robert Campbell of Philadelphia, Pa.  She was born about 1746 and died 14 September 1838 at Ithaca, N.Y. at age 92.  They lived at Perth Amboy until late in their lives when they moved to New York State. Ephraim died 27 May 1818 in Ithaca at age 75.  They were both buried in the Rolfe Cemetery, Applegate Road, Enfield, N.Y."

In particular, a narrative written by a granddaughter of Ephraim Rolfe lists family members, dates, places, events, etc. for the descendants of Ephraim Rolfe who settled in Enfield, Tompkins County, New York in about 1807 (pages 12-19)[3].  Most of the information about descendants of Ephraim Rolfe are from the narrative.

Sarah Campbell was born in about 1746 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (--?--) Campbell[1].  Nothing is known about her parents other than this mention in the Rolfe book.

Ephraim and Sarah (Campbell) Rolfe had at least nine children, all probably born in or near Perth Amboy, New Jersey[1]:

*  Mercy Rolfe (1763-????), married 1783 Daniel Taylor (1760-????)
*  Betsey Rolfe (1766-????), married 1789 Mulford Martin (1763-1843).
*  Phoebe Rolfe (1766-1844), married 1788 Timothy Rose (1760-1832).
*  Mary Rolfe (1769-????) married Daniel Leavens (1760-????)
*  Robert Rolfe (1771-1851) married 1792 Alicia Burlew (1773-????).
*  Jonathan Rolfe (1773-1851) married 1799 Susannah Ellison (1771-1840).
*  Samuel Rolfe (1775-1845), married 1799 Hannah Ellison (1779-1857).
*  Jemima Rolfe (1778-1848), married Aaron Bennett (1770-1830).
*  Ann Rolfe (1783-1793).

Ephraim Rolfe died 27 May 1818 in Ithaca, New York[1].  There was no known probate on his estate.

Sarah (Campbell) Rolfe died 14 September 1838 in Ithaca, New York[1-2].  She is buried in Rolfe Cemetery in Enfield, New York.  Her gravestone says:

SARAH
wife of
Ephraim Rolfe
