Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 30 March 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Participated in Saturday's SDGS DNA Interest Group meeting on Zoom, led by Colin Whitney.  Colin gave an overview of the latest DNA news, Robin gave a presentation on her experience with DNA Painter, and Colin provided a presentation on DNA Painter capabilities and his experience with it.  A three hour meeting.

2)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt on Zoom.  We discussed Norway artifacts with Liv, Niblings with Dave, the Family Book Creator plugin for Family Tree Maker, book publishing on Lulu, the latest MyHeritage news, Ancestry Library Edition, Maria's DNA match, my RootsMagic and John Richman posts, English records, and Hilary's Stephen Buckle profile on FamilySearch Family Tree.

3)  Watched the Streamlining Your Toolbox Cloud Applications, Strategies, & Workflows for Genealogists  webinar by Colleen Greene on the Virtual Genealogical Association website.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandfather #534 Josiah Wood (1687-1753) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Transcribed the 1802 personal inventory of Phineas Brigham (1755-1802) of Westborough, Mass.  for Amanuensis Monday.

6)  Added information and figures for the 6th generation to my William White Mayflower application.  I'm doing this in chapters - one for each generation.

\7)  Added Notes to about 20 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors, and added four ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8)  Worked on a Whittle correspondent's line from Lancashire to Canada all week, adding names, events, dates, places, notes and sources to her family line.  She has many family stories, and has read my Whittle blog posts.

9) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 34,883 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 180).

10)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 56,683 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 132) , and 118,052 source citations (up 381).   I TreeShared three times this week updating 359 profiles, and I resolved 1,186 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 127,046 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

11)  Wrote 20 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was  Dear Randy: How do I Create a List of Persons Who died in 1918 in RootsMagic? with over 373 views.

12)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much.  I went to the grocery store on Tuesday and Saturday, taking advantage of the early hours for seniors.  I watched the church choir and pastor's sermon on YouTube on Sunday.  Half of the back yard "lawn" was mowed on Sunday.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer and wash my hands a lot.
