Seavers in the News -- Etta M. Seaver Dies in 1933 in Massillon, Ohio

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Evening Independent [Massillon, Ohio] newspaper dated 5 September 1933:

The transcription of the article is:

"Mrs. Etta M. Seaver
The funeral of Mrs. Etta M. Seaver, 66, who died Saturday afternoon, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the home, west of Massillon, with the Rev. Harvey Stoner officiating.  Interment will be made in the West Brookfield cemetery.

"Besides her husband, A.K. Seaver, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Moock and Mrs. Mildred Zimmer, of this city and two sons, B. H. Seaver and Russell J. Seaver, of this city; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Kreiger and Mrs. Nicholas Wolfe, of East Greenville, and two brothers, Frank Shaub, of East Greenville, and Bert Schaub, of this city."

The source citation is:

"Etta M. Seaver," The Evening Independent [Massillon, Ohio] newspaper, obituary, Tuesday, 5 September 1933, page 2, column 3, Etta M. Seaver obituary;   Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 28 May 2020).

This obituary provides a death date (implied as Saturday, 2 September 1933), an age, spouse's name, names of four children, and the names of four siblings.

I had Etta M. Schaub (1866-1933) in my RootsMagic family tree database, including hers birth date, death date, spouse's name and marriage date.  She was born 11 November 1866 in Ohio.  She married Arthur Kelly Seaver (1865-1934) in 1887 in Stark County, Ohio.  They had four children:

*  Bert Harrison Seaver (1888-1953), married 1922 Angelina A. Becker (1889-1953).
*  Ada May Seaver (1890-1987), married 1910 Arthur William Mock (1887-1966).
*  Mildred Elizabeth Seaver (1893-1971), married 1913 Harold Howard Zimmer (1890-1962).
*  Russell John Seaver (1895-1936).

I am not related to Arthur Kelly Seaver or his children to my knowledge.  Arthur Kelly Seaver was the grandson of Christian and Lydia (Kissinger) Seaver from Pennsylvania.

There are over 9,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and some persons have a short obituary with no further life information.  I am glad that I can honor Etta M. (Schaub) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors, or will provide more information about them.
