Randy and His Great-Grandfather in 1944 -- Post 642 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I can't help it, I can't do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite photographs:

This photograph is of me (at age 1) with my great-grandfather, Henry Austin Carringer (age 91 at the time) in October 1944 at my first birthday party.  This is probably at my grandparents home at 2130 Fern Street in San Diego.

I used a screen capture to get this image from a paused 8 mm. home movie that my grandfather took in 1944, then cropped it.  The home movie is a lot clearer but it is difficult to pause it on just the best frame.

This is the only time I have seen Austin Carringer with a smile on his face.  In all of the photographs I have of him, he does not smile.  I love this photograph, and I'm so glad that I could brighten his life a bit with my baby antics.  My great-grandmother, Della (Smith) Carringer died in January 1944, so I don't have a color photo or home movie of her.
