Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 1 November 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) General Meeting on Zoom on Wednesday, with 30 in attendance.   The speaker was Marshall Clow with three mini-presentations, "Always Read the Source Document," "Fleshing Out an Obituary," and "Building a FAN Club."

2)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt.  We discussed U.S. census ED numbers and census sources, John's missing child in the 1911 UK census, Ed's "Genealogy Software Showcase" YouTube channel, and Google Patents.

3)  Watched one Family Tree Webinars video - Comparing the Genealogy Giants 2020: Ancestry, FamilySearch, Findmypast, and MyHeritage, by Sunny Morton.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandmother #565 Mehitable (Knowles) Brown  (1653-after 1721) of Eastham, Mass. for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Transcribed a probate record in Amanuensis Monday -- 1685 Inventory of George Barbur (1617-1685) of Medfield, Massachusetts  for Amanuensis Monday today.
 AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

6)  Added Notes to 13 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors.  Ancestry added 36 new DNA matches this past week.  I added 1 more ThruLines to my RootsMagic tree.  MyHeritage added 6 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on
7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 38,393 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 299).

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 59,725 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 233), and 127,695 source citations (up 358).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 441 profiles, and I resolved 1,698 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 139,082 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.   I have 134,235 MyHeritage Record Matches to be resolved and work on them weekly.

9)  Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1649 Birth Record of John Young in Eastham, Massachusetts with over 394 views.

10)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 33 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  I had a dentist's office visit on Tuesday and we went shopping on Wednesday and to church on Sunday. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy (now have 3-4 hours every night since baseball ended!), eating, sleeping and a little yard work, and I started another new crime fiction  book series on my laptop.
