Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Create An Ancestor's Timeline

 Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):

1) Do you use Timelines to help you in your research?  Create a Timeline (a chronological list with dates and events) for one of your ancestors that includes their parents, siblings, spouse(s) and children.  Tell us how you did it, and show us your work.

2)  Put it in your own blog post, in a comment to this post, or in a Facebook post.  Please leave a link in a comment to this post.

Here's mine:

I used RootsMagic 7 with the Reports > Lists > Timeline (Chronology List) and selected my grandmother (Alma Bessie (Richmond) Seaver (1882-1962) and selected her parents family and her family with her spouse.

Here is my timeline:

There are two pages of Events listed chronologically, plus two pages of source citations, and an index page in this RootsMagic report.

It strikes me that almost every event on this list was a time of celebration (births, marriages, etc.) or mourning (deaths, burials, etc.).  Obviously, my grandmother did not participate in every event on this list, but she participated in most of them.

This report would be enhanced if it listed the relationship of the person with the other persons in the report (e.g., father, mother, spouse, brother, sister, child, etc.).

Oh, I need to add more events to my ancestor's database entries to have a better timeline. I also made a list of resources to help me understand their social history.
