Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- "Who Was Your First Ancestor Born In ..."

 Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):

1)  Lorine McGinnis Schulze, in her blog post "
Who Was Your First Canadian or American Born Ancestor?" asked that question.

2)  Let's broaden it a bit to "Who was your first ancestor born in your chosen county, state, province, or country?" based on your known ancestry.

3)
Put it in your own blog post, in a comment to this post, or in a Facebook post.  Please leave a link in a comment to this post.

Here's mine:

*  For the colonies that became the United States, my first ancestor born is my 9th great-grandfather Peregrine White (1620-1704), born aboard the ship Mayflower on 20 November 1620 (Old Style) anchored in Massachusetts Bay, the son of William and Susanna (Jackson) White.

*  For the colonies that became Canada, my first ancestor born is my 4th great-grandmother Mary Jane Hutchinson (1792-1868), born in Kings County, New Brunswick, daughter of William and Catherine (Lewis) Hutchinson.

Another one is my 4th great-grandfather Abraham Kemp (1795-1881), born in Fredericksburgh, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario to John and Mary (Dafoe) Kemp.  His first wife, Sarah Fletcher was born in 1802, and probably had French Canadian or Metis parents born earlier than 1792, but I have not found their names yet.

*  For Pennsylvania colony and state, my first ancestor born is my 4th great-grandfather Rudolf Spengler (1738-1811), born in York, Pennsylvania, the son of Johann Balthasar and Maria Magdalena (Ritter) Spengler.

*  For New York colony and state, my first ancestor born is my 8th great-grandfather Charles Morgan (1649-1720), born in Gravesend, New Netherlands, son of Charles and Helena (Applegate) Morgan.

*  For New Jersey colony and state, my first ancestor born is probably my 7th great-grandmother, Mary Jones (1672-1760), born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Jeffrey and Safronie (Walter) Jones.

*  For Wisconsin territory and state, my first ancestor born is my great-grandmother, Abbey Ardelle "Della" Smith (1862-1944), born in Dodge County, Wisconsin, daughter of Devier J. and Abigail a. (Vaux) Smith.

*  For California, my first ancestor born is my grandfather, Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976), born in San Diego County, son of Henry Austin and Della (Smith) Carringer.

*  I didn't do any European countries because the answer is too difficult to find!

Randy, I'm your opposite. It's too difficult to use my mother's side, except for my grandfather, her father, who was the first on in his family to be born in the United States. He was born in Iowa. Anyone else on my mother's side of the family goes so far back, it would be alot of look ups.

On my father's side, the first person born in the United States was ME! My dad was an only child and immigrated with his parents when he was 19. I was born 3 years later.

So you can see that genealogy on his side is much different than the multiple generations of American births on my mother's side. Good question!

Ah Randy, I am the grandaughter of immigrants. Only one of my grandparents was born in the USA and her parents were immigrants from Norway. I look very much like her https://www.geni.com/people/Anna-J%C3%B8rgine-Lee/6000000014788247611
