Seavers in the News -- Leonard C. Seaver Dies in Florida in 1950

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Miami [Fla.]Herald newspaper dated 29 November 1950:

This obituary provides a name, an age, a death date and place, and the names of his children.  However, there is nothing about his occupation or interests, birthplace, wife's name, parents or siblings.

Leonard Calhoun Seaver was born 26 May 1866 in Jefferson County, Florida, the son of Enoch Edward and Angeline Caroline "Ansy" (Thomas) Seaver.  He died 23 November 1950 in Edgewater, Florida.  He married Mary Lovinia Simmons on 25 December 1893 in Osceola County, Florida.  They had eight children:

*  Ernestine E. Seaver (1894-1976), married (1) 1912 Earl Raymond Murray (1882-1935); (2) 1940 Joseph Augustus Rogero (1890-1952).
*  Clarence Raymond Seaver (1896-1940).
*  Robert Franklin Seaver (1898-????), married 1923 Gertrude Shea (1898-1974).
*  Paul Loren Seaver (1900-1992), married (1) 1921 Lola Yarborough (1903-1954); (2) Noreen Whitehead (1905-1993).
*  Gilbert Henry Seaver (1904-1964), married 1931 Anna Lulu Grindle (1907-1964).
*  Winnifred Louise Seaver (1909-1991), married 1926 Levi Clarence Pitts (1904-1961).
*  Mary Anzy Seaver (1911-1978), married Clement John Southcote Hallett (1886-1980).
*  Helen Ruth Seaver (1914-1996), married 1930 James Wesley Widdis (1910-1974).

I am not related to Leonard C. Seaver since he is descended from a line of Severs in Georgia, the earliest known being John Sever (1760-1799) in Georgia.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a short obituary with many children. I am glad that I can honor Leonard C. Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
