Seavers in the News - Mrs. Carlton Seaver Dies in 1954 in Pomona, California

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This obituary provides no given name or maiden surname, no birth date and place, an age, an implied death date and place, the names of her children, a residence, and several associations.

Mary Estella (Samuels) Seaver (1858-1954) was born 14 February 1858 in New York, and died 3 January 1954 in Pomona, California.  She married Carlton Seaver (1847-1927) on 7 January 1879 in Traer, Tama County, Iowa.  They had six children:

*  Georgia Gladys Seaver (1882-1976), married 1907 Roy Ellsworth Thomas (1881-1952).
*  Franklin Roger Seaver (1884-1964), married 1916 Blanche Ebert (1891-1994).
*  Byron Dick Seaver (1885-1954), married 1921 Mary Louise Schmidt (1890-1974)
*  Homer Carlton Seaver (1889-1941).
*  Marguerite Estella Seaver (1892-1987)
*  Granite Manila Seaver (1897-1978).

I am a 3rd cousin five times removed to Carlton Seaver  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 7th great-grandfather Joseph Seaver (1672-1754) of Framingham, Massachusetts.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary doesn't even name them! I am glad that I can honor Mary Estella (Samuels) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
