Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom. I reviewed the DNA-related news from the past three months, showed my AncestryDNA Chromosome Painter, and answered attendees for their experiences.
2) Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society British Isles Interest Group on Saturday, featuring Colin Whitney providing information about four research problems requested by members.
3) Published a genealogy biography for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandmother #713 Rebecca (Potter) Kirby (1681-1773) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
4) Transcribed a probate record document - 1797 Will of William Sever (1759-1798) of Worcester, Massachusetts - for the Amanuensis Monday series.
5) Reviewed my updated AncestryDNA ethnicity estimates. They still don't match my genealogy research.
6) AncestryDNA now has 40,776 DNA matches (up 79 from 15 August) for me today, with three new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,637 DNA matches (up 17 from 15 August) for me, with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Added notes to 6 AncestryDNA matches.
7) There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,318 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 11).
8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,914 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 5 from 15 August), and 145,314 source citations (up 31). I TreeShared no new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 734 Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 24,974 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.
9) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which four were a press release. The most viewed post last week was Findmypast Announces TreeSearch to Enrich Your Family Tree with over 207 views.
10) This is week 128 since COVID restrictions. My recovery from the 30 May heart surgery is (I hope) complete. I am still really tired every day, take at least two naps each day, and try to walk for 30 minutes every day on the block. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her six times last week. I went shopping on Monday and Friday. I watched the Padres games every day and we are now 68-56 on the season (3-4 last week).
